October was another important month in my journey as an athlete and personal trainer.

I had the opportunity to compete at the Finding Barbara 2026 East Coast Final in New York. For me, participating in a competition is always about more than the event itself. It is about the preparation, the discipline, the challenges along the way and the opportunity to discover what I am capable of.

As a personal trainer specializing in women's strength training in NYC, I believe that continuing to challenge myself physically and mentally is an important part of becoming a better coach.

Growth Begins Outside Your Comfort Zone

There is a difference between following a training routine and actively challenging yourself.

When you have a specific goal or competition ahead of you, your training takes on another level of purpose. Every session becomes an opportunity to improve, identify weaknesses and develop greater consistency.

But growth does not happen only on the days when everything goes well.

It happens when you show up despite a demanding schedule, when you work through difficult sessions and when you recognize that progress takes time.

These are lessons that apply to competitive athletes and everyday individuals alike.

You do not need to compete to benefit from having something meaningful to work toward.

Why Competing Makes Me a Better Personal Trainer

I believe that a personal trainer should never stop learning.

Continuing to train and participate in competitions allows me to experience many of the same challenges that my clients face.

The importance of consistency. The frustration of slower progress. The value of proper technique. The balance between training and recovery.

These experiences influence the way I approach coaching.

When I work with women who want to become stronger, improve their fitness or regain confidence in the gym, I understand that every individual has different goals and circumstances.

My role is not to make everyone train like a competitive athlete.

My role is to create a personalized, science-based training program that helps each woman progress safely and sustainably.

Strength Training Is About More Than Competition

One of the biggest misconceptions about strength training is that it is only for people who want to compete or lift heavy weights.

In reality, strength training can benefit women at many different stages of life and fitness experience.

It can help develop strength, improve movement quality, build confidence and support long-term physical fitness.

For some women, success means lifting heavier weights. For others, it means learning proper technique, becoming more consistent or feeling stronger in everyday activities.

There is no single definition of progress.

That is why personalized training matters.

A good program should reflect your individual goals, experience, abilities and schedule rather than forcing you into a predefined routine.

Bringing the Competitive Mindset Into Everyday Training

My experience at the Finding Barbara 2026 East Coast Final reinforced something I strongly believe: there is always room to improve.

That mindset is something I bring into my work with every client.

Through private personal training in NYC, I help women develop strength through structured programming, proper technique and consistent progression.

Whether you are starting your fitness journey or looking to take your training to another level, the focus should always be on building a foundation that supports long-term progress.

I provide personalized women's strength training in Manhattan, Astoria and Long Island City, including private and in-building personal training options.

Every woman has a different starting point. What matters is having the right approach to move forward.

There Is Always Another Opportunity to Grow

Competing at Finding Barbara in October was another opportunity to challenge myself, learn and continue developing as an athlete.

I am grateful for these experiences because they remind me why I started training and why I continue to invest in my own development.

The lessons I take from competition do not stay on the competition floor. They influence the way I train, the way I coach and the way I help other women build strength.

You do not need a competition on your calendar to set a meaningful goal.

You do not need to be an athlete to start strength training.

You simply need to decide that you want to become stronger and take the first step.
